The next time you’re
driving through town or traveling the highways on vacation make
it a point to read all of the ads that are painted on the sides
of trucks. Whether it’s your local plumber or a national
company, you will see their company name, phone number and
corporate slogan proudly displayed on all sides of the truck, as
well as on the doors. Why do you think companies do that? This
is a great example of corporate branding, creating more name
recognition, and sending subliminal buying messages. We are
already familiar with most of the names: Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola,
UPS, FedEx, Abacus Plumbing, ACE Hardware, etc. We also know
many of the slogans…”Always Low Prices”, “Things Go Better with
Coke”, “What Can Brown Do For You?”, “Relax, It’s FedEx”, “You
Can Count On Us”, “Ace – The Help Hardware Place”.
Why do you think these
companies do that? Why do we see their ads on TV every day?
These are very successful companies, with the major market share
in their respective industries, and yet they continue to spend
millions to keep their names in the spotlight. Why?
